In development. The Health Standard is not yet seeing patients or accepting referrals.
Nurse. Advocate. Future DNP-FNP.
Kimberly Morton is a registered nurse and DNP-FNP student at Emory University. Her nursing background includes intensive care, home health, hospice, and direct care across the healthcare continuum.
The Health Standard grew from a belief that patients should not leave a healthcare encounter confused about medication changes, laboratory results, warning signs, or what happens next.
In intensive care, Kimberly saw how quickly a patient's situation can change, and how much it means to families when someone takes the time to explain what is happening. In home health, she saw what happens after discharge: patients and caregivers at the kitchen table, sorting through new medications and instructions on their own. In hospice, she learned that good care is as much about listening as it is about treatment, and that families remember how they were spoken to. The Health Standard brings those lessons together: care that explains, care that comes to you when getting out is hard, and care that treats the people around the patient as part of the team.
